Lisbon is a beautiful and laid back history, full of history, art and excellent pubs and cafes. Highlights include the Monastery of Jeronimos, the Tower of Belem, the Coach Museum, the Bridge of 25 th April, which is the longest suspension bridge in Europe, and the picturesque old town.
Various tours are available that cover the main sights of Lisbon. Coach tours are very popular and an easy way to get around, although you will arguably see and experience more of city life during walking tours of the city. A journey on one of the city's iconic trams is also a must. However you choose to get around, you should make sure you round of your tour with a trip to a local café, to experience the relaxed charm of Lisbon.
There are plenty of excursions on offer outside the city too. Tours to the West Region include visits to Obidos, Nazare, Alcobaca, and Fatima. They include some wonderful beaches, and Fatima is a famous pilgrimage site where many miracles are said to have taken place. Sintra is home to an amazing palace with beautiful and lush gardens, and is a very popular day trip from Lisbon.
Wine tours and wine tasting experiences are also on offer, and can occupy either a whole day or an few hours, depending on how much time you have to spare. Most involve a trip outside the city to one of the nearby vineyards, where you can sample some top vintages. Portuguese wine is excellent, and even if you don't make it on a wine tour, you should definitely try a glass or four with dinner!
Lisbon is perfect for a relaxed city break, and you will enjoy the ambience and beauty of one of Europe's friendliest capitals.
