Lisbon Attractions

There was a time when Portugal was a world power, and nowhere else is this more evident than in its capital Lisbon. After visiting this wonderful city you'll leave with a acute sense of history personified by the great world explorers of the Age of Discovery like Vasco Da Gama, Bartholomeu Dias and Pedro Alvares Cabral.

Spend your days exploring Lisbon’s historical buildings and many architectural marvels like the Jeronimos Monastery (Mosteiro dos Jerónimos in Portuguese), The Belem Tower great for taking photographs!), and the St George Castle (Castelo de São Jorge in Portuguese).

When you’ve seen enough historic buildings and magnificent art museums, sit down on the Rossio or any one of Lisbons other beautiful city squares to do some people watching. Then visit the lighter side of Lisbon such as its animal attractions that include the Lisbon Zoo and Oceanarium, and once your finished there, take the kids on a fun rides like up the Santa Justa Elevator, a structure reminiscent of nineteenth century iron structures such as the Eiffel Tower.

Several opportunities for day trips from Lisbon await you. There are many picturesque villages within easy reach such as the romantic town of Sintra, known for its extravagant villages and fairytale castles straight out of a children’s picture book. So special is this town that it has been declared a World Heritage Site.

If you appreciate beautiful, impressive attractions, Lisbon can keep you entertained and occupied for days – go and see for yourself!
